Adelaida Hernandez
It is with sadness that the family of Adelaida Hernandez announces her passing at St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
She was born on March 13, 1932 in Arayat, Pampanga, Philippines. She graduated from Education then later pursued a career in nursing and retired as an OR nurse at Misericordia Hospital.
She is survived by children Nerissa (Kevin Leung), Julieta (Marc Gregoire), Cristina, and Antonio (Aileen); grandchildren Gabriella, Francesca, and Thembani. She is predeceased by her husband Mauro, parents Dr. & Mrs. Jose Gantioqui and 10 siblings.
The family would like to extend our great appreciation to the home care support especially Benilda and Mimi. Also to the Regent Casino staff for their swift action, the paramedics, and doctors, nurses and staff of St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Adelaida’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 10:00am. Prior to the mass there will be a public viewing at the Cathedral. A reception will follow after the mass at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Adelaida will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum at Assumption Cemetery at a later date.
