Grant Willett
1924-2017
It is with heavy hearts and an
appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Grant Frank
Willett of Bathurst announces his passing, which occurred on Tuesday,
December,12, 2017, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst , NB
at the age of 93.
Born in Cascapidia, Qc, Grant was the
son of the late Mathieu Willett and Amy (Harrison) Willett of
Cascapidia Qc.
Grant was a WWII veteran who served as a
gunner in E Troop, 17th Battery,
15th Canadian Field Regiment of the Royal
Canadian Artillery serving in Canada and Europe, devoted to the Legion
as a pass president of Br # 188 in Rouyn- Noranda Qc and Life Member
of the Herman J. Good V.C Br #18, receiving the Meritorious Service
Medal in 2001 followed by the Palm Leaf in 2009, the “Ordre
National de la Legion D’Honneur” from France. He
retired from Brunswick mines in 1985 after 36 years with Noranda
Group. He devoted his retirement to his family and volunteering at the
legion.
He was predeceased by one daughter
Suzanne Dechert.
Besides his wife Georgette (Lemire)
Willett of 68 years, he is survived by one brother Ray Willett (Anna)
and one sister Emma
Willett.
Six sons Mathieu (Marie) Sept-Iles, QC,
Art (Nicole Duguay) Gatineau, QC, Gary (Rita), Michael (Debbie), Marc
(Sharon), Allan (Debbie) of Bathurst.
One daughter Sasha, Sept-Iles, QC; and a
son in law Chris Dechert, BC, 11 grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and
friends at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com),
187 St. George St, Bathurst on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 7-9 p.m.
and on Monday from 2 p.m. until time of funeral. Funeral Mass will be
celebrated on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St.
Peter Ave, Bathurst.
