Obituary for Gwendolyn Dawn Dixon
Gwendolyn (Wendy, Nana, Gwen) Dawn Dixon (nee Rush), 65, passed away December 11, 2017 in Guelph after a short battle with a very aggressive cancer.
Born in Montreal June 28 1952, she lived in Fergus, Guelph, Elora and Pike Bay. Beloved grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend she was an accomplished artist, diver, and nature lover. For the past 11 years she has loved living by Lake Huron with her dogs, getting outside and on the water whenever she could. She was strong, feisty and independent til the end.
She leaves her husband Walter Dixon, daughter Marie Dixon and her spouse Andrea McCoy and their son Rowan; daughter Jacqueline Dixon and her son Nathan and daughter Naomie; son Jeremie Dixon and his wife Vicky (nee VanHuisstede) and their son Brodie and daughter Robyn. She also leaves her sister Deborah Douglas and her husband Paul Douglas, her brother Blair Rush and his wife Judy (nee Slater). She will be remembered by Alicia and many nieces and nephews.
Her formidable spirit, passion for family, and sense of humour will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, 7-9 p.m. and the funeral service will be held December 15th at 1:00 at Giddy’s Funeral home in Fergus. (280 St. David St. S.)
Memorial gifts in Gwendolyn’s memory can be made to the Bruce Trail Conservancy of Canada and David Suzuki Foundation.
