Marie Marak
Mrs. Marie Marak, aged 101 years, resident of Sister Leila Greco passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Care Group on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Born in Honeymoon, Saskatchewan, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Joanna Palidwar. She was married to Eugene Marak in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1940 and they came to Fort William in 1942. He predeceased her here in October 1988. Marie was employed with Chapples as a sales clerk and estimator in the drapery department for 20 years, retiring in 1981. Her main interests were her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was as member of First Church United, the U.C.W. and the McKellar Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, volunteering for over 30 years. Marie was also a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of the Volunteer Association to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Survived by daughters Ruby Elvish and Alice Martinsen; son Tom Marak; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild on the way. Predeceased by parents Alex and Joanna Palidwar; husband Eugene; 4 brothers: Peter, Walter, Michael and Joseph; 6 sisters: Johhanna, Anastasia, Stella, Jessie, Olga and Sophie.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Marie Marak will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home with Rev. Joyce Fergus-Moore officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
