Peter Welles – June 23, 1939 – November 15, 2017
Peter Welles, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly on Nov 15, 2017. Originally from Friesland, The Netherlands, made Canada his home in 1953. Resident of Guelph, Orillia, and moved to Barrie in 1970 with his family.
Loving husband to Joanne (nee Obee) for 55years. Extraordinary father to Scott (Cindy) and Kelly. Proud Poppa Pete to Andrew, Patrick, Bryce and Cailey. Son of the late Leendert and Johanne Welles. Brother of Kathleen (late Leo) and the late Eddy.
Peter was a long-time employee of the Simcoe County Board of Education.
Peter was involved with St. George’s Anglican Church and was a frequent blood donor with the Canadian Red Cross. During his retirement years, volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels. When needed, Peter was there to help.
Memorial service to be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, Burton Ave and Granville St, on Thursday, November 23, 2017 – visitation between 12:00pm until time of service at 1:00pm. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe or to St. George’s Anglican Church.
You will be very much missed by those of us here on earth. When you get your wings, ring the bell.
