Landry, Joseph Hugh, 60, of
Antigonish passed away on December 4, 2017 in St. Martha’s
Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Hugh and Carmel
(DeCoste) Landry.
Joe was an auto body mechanic with Hughie Stewart when he got
into a motorcycle accident at the age of 19. After spending a number
of months in a coma, his will to live allowed him to overcome. Though
the accident left him disabled, his determination drove him to find
employment at the Philatelic Centre where he worked for 25 years. Joe
led an interesting social life, and in later years he went on
cruises.
He is survived by his sisters, Jane, Cole Harbour; Debra
(Peter) Woodfine, Vancouver, BC; Rose Marie (Paul) Pate, St. Peters;
Michelle van Oirschot, Calgary, AB; brother, Rod, Antigonish; six
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in C.
L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass will
be at 11:00 am on Saturday in St. Ninian Cathedral, Antigonish,
Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery
at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Martha’s
Regional Hospital Foundation, the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre,
