Norman Stanley Strickland
Norman S. Strickland, 74, of Moncton,
passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, December 4,
2017. Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late Norman and
Beatrice (Kendall) Strickland.
Norm was retired from the Moncton
Police Force and the RCMP, with 31 years’ service. He worked
mainly in Narcotics and loved his work. Norm delighted in the years
spent coaching his sons in basketball and football, loved to golf and
enjoyed all sports. He was a past member of the Moncton Curling Club
and the Moncton Golf & Country Club and enjoyed time spent
with friends at The Liars Table at the Fox &
Hound.
Norm is survived by his wife, Susan
(Delaney) Carey; his children, Cherilynn Diotte, Lisa Strickland
(Sam), Curtis and Shane Strickland; stepchildren, Melissa and Michael
Carey (Emma); grandchildren, Dylan, Samantha, Tyler, Nowlan, Knox and
Finnegan; sister, Millie Spencer (Edward), as well as many nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister,
Shirley Davidson.
Special thank you to Dr. Harb for his
excellent care. Norm enjoyed extra years because of you, Dr. Harb!
Norm wanted to say thank you to the girls at “Club Chemo”,
he loved you all! You made his days at the clinic as happy as they
possibly could be. We will never forget you! Thank you, Dr. Darren
Martin and Dr. Pat Phelan, for your care and compassion; to EMH for
the care they gave Norm these final months and to the Palliative Care
Unit at The Moncton Hospital. To Rody and Anne Canning, our extended
family and friends, your love and support has meant more than you
could ever imagine!
A Service to celebrate and honour
Norm’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel,
1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday, December 13, 2017
at 1:30 pm. A reception will follow in the Funeral Home Reception
Centre.
In memory of Norm, donations to The
Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation (NB Docs Cycling Against
