In Loving Memory
Derek William John Challis passed away peacefully on Tuesday,
December 5, 2017 surrounded by his family at Mackenzie Health Hospital in
Richmond Hill. Derek was born on March 31, 1934 (83 years old) in
Mitcham, Surrey, England. Derek came to Canada at the age of 21 and
trained to become a Meteorological Technician then worked with Environment
Canada for 34 years, some of those years in the most remote parts of
Canada.
Derek is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Beryl,
also his brother John, sister Pauline and children Debbie, Janine, Steven with
wife Nora, Andrew with wife Meity and grandchildren Keith, Shawn, Christopher,
Lauren, Tyler, Luke and GGpa to great granddaughter Kayla.
Memorial services will be held at Highland Funeral Home at
10 Cachet Woods Court, Markham, Ontario (near Hwy 404 and 16th Ave) on
Saturday, December 9, 2017. Visitation will commence at 11am with service
to begin at noon. Following the service, lunch and refreshments will be
provided.
