Obituary Overview
FOSTER, Jean H. (nee Allison)
On November 23, 2017 at Henley Place, London, Jean H. Foster (nee Allison) in her 103rd year passed away peacefully and as unexpectedly as is possible for her age, surrounded by her Henley Place family.
Predeceased by her beloved husband George (2011) to whom she was married for 74 years, her cherished daughter Nancy Byron (1997), and dear son-in-law George Byron (2005).
Jean leaves behind a family who adored her. She is the dear mother of Catherine Doolittle (Larry), and treasured grandmother of Susan Patterson (Paul), Jim Doolittle (Kes), Sandra Murray (Craig), Linda Byron (Nick), Nicole Harding (Fred) and Shannon Byron (Rob). She is the adored great grandmother of Jocelyn Sebborn, Holly Murray and Hunter Murray. Also survived by her dear sister-in-law Marnie Allison. Jean was the last surviving of 12 brothers and sisters and was most recently predeceased by brother John Allison earlier this year. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
During her life she attended Central Baptist Church. She loved Christmas time, taking the bus downtown to shop for her grandkids, and watching her Toronto Blue Jays. Her favourite times were spent with her family, and she was incredibly generous to all. Jean was fiercely independent and lived in her home until she was 97 before making Henley Place her home. The family is very thankful to the staff at Henley Place for their tender care, and for being a willing listener to all of Jean’s tales and her singing along with Suzie Q. Jean was lively and vibrant with a big presence until her last breathe. She is the last of her generation and we will miss her stories and words of wisdom, and have many memories that will live on.
Relatives and friends will be received at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1997 Dundas Street East (at Wavell) on Sunday, December 10 from 1 pm – 2 pm where a funeral service will be held at 2:00. A private family burial at Forest Lawn Funeral Home will follow at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Stoney Creek Baptist Church or Gideon’s Bible Society.
