ROEDLER, Helen Margaret
March 23, 1914 – November 24, 2017
Helen Margaret Roedler passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Sunrise Encore in Olds, AB. Helen is lovingly remembered by her son, Dale (Ruth); daughter, Karen (Warren); grandchildren, Rhonda and Chris (Leah); and great grandchildren, Blake and Emily. She was predeceased by her parents, Ole and Katherine Winger; husband, Herman; brother, Harold; sisters-in-law, Annie Robe, Dorothy Winger and Mabel Winger; and brother-in-law, Laurence Robe.
Helen was born in Piapot, SK and moved with her family to the Carstairs area where she met her husband, Herman. Together, Helen and Herman successfully operated the family farm east of Carstairs. Helen was an active member of the Acme Flower and Vegetable Show, where she was awarded trophies and ribbons on an annual basis. In June 2009, she was recognized by the Alberta Horticultural Association for her significant contributions in horticulture in the province of Alberta and long-term service to her community. Helen attended the Carstairs Bancroft United Church and was actively involved in the UCW.
A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at the Carstairs Bancroft United Church on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carstairs Bancroft United Church, PO Box 34, Carstairs, AB, T0M 0N0 or the Alberta Children’s Hospital, 2888 Shaganappi Trail NW, Calgary, AB, T3B 6A8.
