Obituary of Harold Swanson
SWANSON, Harold Angus “Gus” -84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Sydney NS, he was a son of the late Harold Magnus and Mary Catherine (Robinson) Swanson. Gus is survived by his children, Rosemary, Great Village; Bill, Waterside; Bruce (Wendy White), Pictou; sisters, Marie Taylor, Cranbrook, BC; Chris Durning (Ron), Cranbrook, BC; brother, Tom (Dawn), Dartmouth; granddaughters, Ginny (Jessie Conners) and Emily (Aiden Munro); great-granddaughters, Ember Rose and Lilith Evangeline. He was predeceased by sister, Gloria; brother, John; son, Robert Kimbal (Kim). Gus began his working life as a diesel mechanic and was employed in areas throughout eastern Canada. His hobbies included farming, construction and inventing things, being self taught on many subjects that would be time and environmentally friendly. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 16, Pictou, on Wednesday, November 29th from 6-9PM. By Gus’s request, his ashes will be laid to rest over his beloved farm and seashore in Waterside, Pictou County. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 16. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
