Obituary

Garneau- Lois H. (nee Flanders)
Lois H. Garneau (nee Flanders) of Ottawa ON, age 77, died peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital, Ottawa. Born and raised in Sherbrooke, QC, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Hazel (nee Price) Flanders. Lois earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bishop’s University and completed an education degree at the University of New Brunswick. She retired from a lengthy career as an elementary school teacher in Fredericton NB. Lois was a committed member of her church and took great pleasure in interior decorating as well as painting, quilting, and arts and crafts. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at the family cottage on Lake George NB. She is survived by her son Peter (Mary Beth) Garneau of Ottawa ON, her daughter Penny (Bruce) Fawcett of Moncton NB, and five grandchildren: Daniel, Emily, Andrew, Cara, and Kaitlyn. She also leaves her brother Donald (Noryl) Flanders and her sister Valerie Reid. She was predeceased by her husband Grant Garneau who she cared for lovingly for many years after his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. Family and friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman s, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean, ON, on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 from 2-4 pm. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Lois’ memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society would be welcomed.
