Obituary

Leslie passed away peacefully on November 21, 2017 at St Vincent’s hospital following a long and hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Leslie’s indomitable spirit, independence, and love for life were apparent to all that knew and love her. Leslie’s family and friends treasure the time that we were given with her.
Leslie will forever be in the hearts of her children Kyle Jablonowski (Mallory Fowler) and Lara (Mike) DeLong; her grandchildren Charlotte and Jacob; her siblings Arlene (Doug) Ross, Brian (Dency) Sharkey, Jim (Shirley) Sharkey, Jill (Jean-Guy) Nault, Dale (Irene) Sharkey, and is predeceased by her brother Wayne (Eva) Sharkey. Leslie is predeceased by her mother Marion Grace (Rodney), and her father Herbert John Sharkey.
Leslie will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who embraced and d her love of travel, adventure, shopping and all things sweet.
Born in Ottawa, Leslie spent her early years enjoying family adventures with travel and family picnics. She learned an enduring love of the holidays, which she effortlessly spread to all those around her in later years. Leslie became an RN in 1974, and enjoyed a long and varied career that took her from Ottawa, to Manitoba, and then to New Brunswick. Leslie held many roles that she enjoyed but her favourite parts were always the people with which she had the privilege to work.
Leslie’s warm and generous heart was well known to all those that knew and love her. She had a special gift to find special meaning in the everyday and knew how to create treasured memories and memorabilia. Leslie’s legacy is embrace the things that make you laugh and that the greatest gift of all is unwavering, unconditional love. For that, we will always be grateful.
Lara and Kyle would like to extend a special thank you to all of Leslie’s loved ones – friends and family – that have been there for Mom throughout this illness. Your unwavering kindness, love, and generosity have made being a long-distance family bearable during this time.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial reception at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman s, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa ON on Thursday November 30, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For those wishing to the Ottawa Food Bank in lieu of flowers would be appreciated
