Obituary for Joan McIver
Monica Johanna (Joan) McIver passed away peacefully at Seaforth Long Term Care Home, on Thursday, November 16, 2017. In her 89 years among us, Joan was a source of love and caring within the circle of her family and in our community. Throughout her teaching career, Joan was a patient and kind presence in the lives of her students.
Predeceased by her husband Louis (1992), Joan will be lovingly remembered by her children Ron, Jim (Jane), Mary Ann Knetsch, Maureen McIver, Bill, and Alexene (Mark) Cornelius. Cherishing memories of a special grandma are Natasha, Rachel, Robert, Stephen, Sean and Jack.
Along with her husband Lou, Joan is predeceased by her parents Joe and Ethel Flanagan, her siblings Joseph, Doris (Frank) Ryan, Bernadette (Karl) Steinbeck and James, as well as Lou’s brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held at McGlynn Family Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth (519-527-1390), on Sunday, November 19, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at 1:45 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join the family to celebrate Joan’s life at her Funeral Mass to be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 20, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 22 Victoria Street, Seaforth. Interment will take place at St. Columban Catholic Cemetery followed by a reception at Seaforth and District Community Centre.
