Obituary Overview
Phillip Clarence Tait
July 16, 1921 – November 15, 2017
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.
He will now be reunited with his beloved wife Elizabeth who he shared 68 wonderful years together. Also his only daughter Susan, who they tragically lost in 1999.
Left to celebrate his life is his sister Eileen, sons Phil Jr. (Janice), Bob (Debbie), son-in-law Dave Nicol, grandchildren Brie, Jennifer, Janice, Travis (Kaitlin), Rylan (Julie), Scott (Beth) and Melissa (Kevin), great-grandsons, Kallen, Wade, Chase, Colin, Liam and great-granddaughter Sophie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young man Phil joined the Navy and served in World War 2 and that is when he met his wife Elizabeth in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was an avid sports lover and loyal to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets, never missed watching a game! He worked at Safeway, working up to Warehouse Manager. One of the things he really loved was his Buick cars.
The family would also like to send special thanks to all the love and support from Westhaven Manor this last 3 years where he lived and made many new friends. Also thanks to all the Home Care Workers and Nurses who looked after Phil.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
