It is with heavy hearts that the family are grieving today
for the passing of a wonderful man, Councillor Gerry Thomas, of Lennox
Island, who died at Prince County Hospital, Summerside on November 14,
2017 with his family by his side.
Gerry was a devoted Councillor on Lennox Island, a talented
musician and carpenter. He was operator of Minigoo Fisheries Canteen,
a fisherman, and supervisor of forestry for Lennox Island Development
Corp. A man of many talents who would go out of his way to help others
and had so many tasks he wanted to do. He will be greatly missed and
is an enormous loss to the Community.
On July, 21, 2017 he married the love of his life, Heather,
who is devastated by his passing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Heather Thomas, his
special dog Wishbone, son Garry Lewis and daughters Carol Lewis and
Catherine Labobe; sisters Lisa, Tina and Nova Legere; Wonita Webber
and brother Peter Legere; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews. He was a much loved son in law to Louise and Laurie Smith of
Arcadia, N.S.
Gerry was predeceased by his mother, Theresa
Thomas and step fathers Peter Cerle, Walter Burns and Wendall
Noye.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ferguson Tyne
Valley Funeral Chapel. According to his wishes, cremation has taken
place and a celebration of life will take place at the home of Heather
and Gerry Thomas, 168 Oapus Trail, Lennox Island on Friday and
Saturday afternoon and evening. A family service for close family and
friends will be held at a later date to return his ashes to the
earth.
