May 20- 1927 – November 7- 2017
Jim Minue of Okotoks passed away peacefully at High River Hospital surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
Jim was born in the High River hospital May 20, 1927. He was raised on the family farm south of the Big Rock. Jim moved into Okotoks to attend high schoool. There he met his future bride, Mauna Hutchinson. Jim and Mauna were married July 8, 1950 and worked the family farm until retirement in 1972. During that time they raised 4 happy children, Louanna, Cherie, Ray… and Tim. Life on the farm was good.
Jim and Mauna built a new house on “4” in 1975. In 2003 they moved into Okotoks to a condo where they made many good friends. In 2014 they moved into Heartland truly enjoying their retirement years. A huge part of Jim’s life was dedicated to helping others improve their lives through 65 years as a member of the Elks brotherhood. And then realized to help others he had to start by improving his own life. And so, for the last 40 years, he has been a very active member with AA.
Jim is survived by his wife Mauna; children Louanna ( Ejlief Slot) Cherie (Ed Beeler) Ray (Bert Minue) Tim (Brenda Minue); grandchildren Bianca (Karl) Hannula, Jamie (Jennifer) Beeler, Wes (Lindsay) Beeler, Blake (Ashley) Beeler, Stacie (Jason) Akins, Kevin (Jessica) Slot, Alison (Sheldon) Brown, Arlan (Jenna Shearer) , Amy (Scott) Minue, Angie (Colin) Minue, Joey Hunter, Tyler (Teresa) Minue, Braydon (Jamea) Minue; and 17 great grandchildren. Jim was predeceased by his brother John; sisters Norma Lyons and Rae Evans; and grandson Riley Minue.
