Obituary for Gaston Bélanger
BÉLANGER, Gaston
The family announces with great sadness his passing in Sudbury, Friday, October 27, 2017 at the age of 91 years, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Beloved husband of 69 years to Lucienne (née Rivet) Bélanger of Val Caron. Son of the late Orphila and the late Rhéa (née Robillard) Bélanger. Loving father of Claude (late Wendi), Fern(Joanne), Yvon (Colette), Pauline Cayen (Richard), Monique Boudreau (Guy), André (Jeannine), Raymond (Lucie Cousineau) and Nicole Robichaud (Bernard). Sadly missed by 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Constant (Marie), Alberte Leblanc (late Noël). Predeceased by his brothers Onésime (Marilyn) and Ronald. Gaston was a carpenter at Inco for 30 years, retiring from the iron ore plant in 1982. He was an avid outdoorsman for years enjoying the numerous pleasures of Lake Agnew where some of his children and grandchildren now call home. What we admired about our father and grandfather was his passion for learning and his readiness for new challenges. Surpassing this was his love and devotion for his family. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME 222 Lasalle Blvd, Monday, October 30, 2017 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Ste-Marguerite d’Youville, Val Thérèse. A special thanks to Shared Care Team and the hospice staff. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice can be made by cheque or online at www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca.
