Obituary for Colin Moore
COLIN MOORE
Colin Moore, 92, of Etobicoke, passed away at Sunnybrook Veterans’ Centre, L Wing, Toronto, on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Colin was a radio operator on active duty with the Engineering Corps of the 2ND Canadian Infantry Division in Europe, including the Normandy Campaign, from 1944 to 1945. Shortly after he returned from the war, Colin started a 40-year career with the Toronto Transit Commission.
Beloved husband of the late Ruby Moore (2001). Dear father of Ian Moore (Katherine) and Colleen Moore (Ken Kroesser). Loving grandfather of Gibran, Jason and Jennifer Neiva and Andrew Moore. He will be missed by several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Dear brother-in-law of Hazel Beuerman, Bernice McPherson, Laurene Horan (Jim), Joanne French (Clare), Betty McCutcheon, Bob Doerr (Marilyn) and Kathy Cooper (Gerry). Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his daughter Judith Neiva (2009), parents Charles and Mary Moore, brothers Archie, Charles, Dave, and Hugh, and sisters Flora and Tib, and brothers-in-law Alvin Beuerman, Hugh McPherson and Case McCutcheon.
The family would like to thank Veterans Affairs Canada and especially the many caregivers in both K- and L-Wings, as well as Chaplain Wes Roberts, for their compassion and palliative expertise during the time Colin was a resident.
Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. Tom Dunbar officiating. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Interment in McKillop Evangelical Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Sunnybrook Health Science Centre Foundation (Veterens Centre) or O.S.P.C.A would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
