Ken Langdon passed away quietly on October 14, 2017 at the
Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.
He was born on October 26, 1928 in Timmins Ontario, the
youngest son of the late Emma Wilhelmina Langdon and William Osgood
Langdon. He graduated in1947 from Timmins High School and went on to
Western University in London ON where he graduated in 1952 with a
Bachelor of Education Degree.
He moved his family to Fredericton in 1969 where he
began work as the Vice President of the New Brunswick Development
Corporation. He moved to Lesotho South Africa as an expert
in small business development with the Canadian International
Development Agency in 1979, returning home to become Executive
Director of the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation in
1982.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, two siblings, and his
wife and beloved partner of 54 years, Catherine Loretta on November
26, 2004. Ken is survived by four children, Brenda
Langdon-Embry (Rick Embry) of Cuenca Ecuador; Ken Langdon (Sandi
Langdon,) of Woodstock; Andrea Seymour (Tim Seymour) of Fredericton;
Wilma Langdon of Fredericton and ten grandchildren,
Jonathan, Michael, Liana and Marisa Langdon Embry; Tyler and Jesse
Langdon; Ryan and Mathew Seymour; Nicholas and Kailey Neill; and eight
great grandchildren. He was a devoted father and extraordinarily proud
of the accomplishments of his children and
grandchildren.
Ken Langdon was a man of integrity with a keen intellect, a
great sense of humor and unparalleled wit. He was a pillar of strength
to his family and a man who was genuinely delighted by the happiness
and success of those dear to him. He was an avid bridge player and a
fierce competitor and cultivated many close friendships within the
Fredericton bridge community.
He delighted in the written word and was the distinguished
author of several books including A Spy in My House, Dirty Politics,
Jackals of the Night and many short stories.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In lieu
of flowers donations can be made, through the Chalmers Regional
Hospital Foundation, to the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.
