Obituary for Velma Salisbury
Peacefully with her family by her side on October 15, 2017, heaven received another angel; Velma Jean Salisbury (nee O’Toole) of Petrolia in her 75th year. Velma was the beloved wife of Horace Salisbury for a wonderful 45 years. Dearly loved mother to Robbi (Samantha) Salisbury, Helen Salisbury, Sandra, Harold, and Roy Croucher. Cherished and devoted grandmother to Ashley (Dale) Hyatt, Horace Jr., Christopher and Elizabeth Salisbury and proud great grandma to the newest edition, Marleigh Marie Hyatt. Dear sister to Linda (the late Bob Kamerman) Poole, Dorothy (Tom) Scott, Patricia (Les) Billington, Christina Ward, and Brenda (Buddy) Niddrie, and sister in-law to Jake Smith. Predeceased by her parents, Christopher and Doris O’Toole and her siblings Joseph and Charlie O’Toole, and Mary Smith. Velma will be fondly remembered by all her nieces, nephews and many friends. Velma was the most selfless and caring woman, whose heart of gold touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She lived, and strived, to care for her family and many others with her open arms. Velma’s new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be laughing, dancing, listening to her favourite music, and watching her favourite TV shows; forever looking down on her family. Until we meet again, we won’t say “goodbye”, we’ll just say, “so long”. Visitors will be received by the family from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with one hour visitation prior to the service. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke (www.heartandstroke.ca).
