Obituary of Jacqueline Smith
Jacqueline Mary (Vaughan) Smith, 81 of Dartmouth NS passed away on October 5, 2017 at the Dartmouth General Hospital with her son and grandson by her side. Jackie was born in Halifax on October 20, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Irving and Mary Elizabeth (Gillis) Vaughan.
Jackie started her career at the Bank of Nova Scotia and finished with the Federal Government – Fisheries and Oceans. She loved travelling with her husband, going to movies with her friends, reading, knitting and eating out.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest Smith of Halifax and her brother Donald Vaughan. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by her son’s David in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Dale (Linda)of Dartmouth and Ken (Lisa) of Dartmouth; her sister Shirley (Fred) in Russell, Ontario; her brother Bob (Helen)in Riverview, New Brunswick. Jackie loved and was very proud of her grandchildren Angela (Kh) in Edmonton Alberta, Rachel in Edmonton, Alberta, Kevin (Stephanie) Edmonton, Alberta; Christopher (Andrea) Porter’s Lake, NS, Jason (Johanna) Woodstock, NB, Amanda (Brandon) Eastern Passage, NS; Shannon Dartmouth, NS and Evan Dartmouth, NS and her great-grandchildren Myles, Nigel, Gracie and Sadie in Edmonton Alberta and Leia in Woodstock NB .
The family extends their thanks to the staff of 4E Dartmouth General Hospital for their kindness, care, and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be at St. Luke’s Church in Dartmouth – Tuesday October 17th at 1:00 pm, followed by reception. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
