James “Jim” Carman Abercrombie, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 12, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 18, 1947 in Mount Forest, Jim is survived by Linda (Sykes), his beloved wife of 45 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Carolyn (Ken) Bignell, Kristen, and Scott (Melissa), as well as his six grandchildren Elizabeth, Sarah and Madelyn Bignell, and Kyle, Evan and Owen Abercrombie. Jim is also survived by his brother Ralph, brother-law Don Sykes, and was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Elizabeth (Gillies). A man of strong faith as well as a dedicated entrepreneur and engineer, Jim enjoyed agriculture and travelling, but cherished time with his family most of all.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. South, St. Marys on Monday, Oct. 16, from 6-9 pm. The Memorial Service will take place at GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH, 16 Hillside Court, St. Marys on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 at 1 pm with interment to follow in St Marys Cemetery.
In remembrance of Jim, donations may be made to the Stratford General Hospital Foundation (to support the purchase of a new CT scanner), the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
