With sadness, we, the family, regret to announce the passing
of our mother, Barbara MacDonald on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at
Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born January 8, 1925, in Hamilton, Ont., she was the daughter
of the late William and Violet Harper.
Barbara was a lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary of the
Mira Road Fire Department, as well as a founding member of the Home
and School Association of Mira Road. For many years, she was also a
familiar face selling Avon in the local area.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Wayne (late Josephine), Greg
(Nancy), Blair (Bernadette) and Brent (Joan). She is also survived by
her grandchildren, Cary, Jodi, Dallas, Lindsay, Ainslie, Ryan,
Christopher and Charnelle and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jonathan,
Landon, Lane, Harper and Maisie, as well as her sister-in-law, Millie
MacDonald and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Colin MacDonald, she was predeceased by
her sister, Audrey Entwhistle, brother, William and brothers-in-law,
Stan Entwhistle and Angus, Donald and William
MacDonald.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on
Monday, October 16 from 12-1 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel
at 1 p.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment in Forest
Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Mira Road Fire
Hall.
The family
would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Harbourstone and
Seaview Manor, as well as Dutch Brook Guest Home for their exceptional
care and compassion.
