We are
deeply saddened and sorry to announce the passing of much loved Betty
Couture on Sunday October 1,2017 after a
long, hard, incredibly courageous battle with cancer.
After graduating from Sydney Academy she
worked at Zellers in Sydney for 25 years, making many good friends
with both staff and customers. Her favourite hobby was taking pictures
and putting them on her Facebook page for all her friends and family
to see. She liked to take drives to the country snapping photos of the
beautiful colours, clouds and scenery with her husband Barry. She
loved absolutely nothing more than to spend time with her husband and
kids, the three people she was the closest to in this
world.
Betty is survived by her husband of 48
years, Barry Couture (Sydney); her son, whom she loved more than life
itself, Chris (Coxheath); her daughter-in-law, Lindsay, whom she loved
like her own, and her favourite nephew, Bob Donovan (Suzanna/Faith in
Calgary). Also her beloved grand-pets who always found a way to bring
a smile to her face and make her happy, Holly and Iggy
(Coxheath).
She was
predeceased by her father and mother, George (Mildred) Hall; her
wonderful sister, Inez (Leigh) Donovan, and her much loved and missed
dog, Ruff.
We
would like to sincerely thank her cancer doctor Ron MacCormick and his
secretary Sonya, she loved both of them very much. Also, Dr.
Wawrzyszyn (Pier Medical), Dr. D’Intino, Mr. Tom MacNeil and
all those at the Lodge that Gives. A special thanks to all of the
nurses at the Chemo Centre and Palliative Care Units who always
treated her with so much care and respect, it was greatly
appreciated.
As per
her wishes, there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place.
There will be a small service held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 4 at
S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St. in Sydney. Rev.
Sheldon Chant to officiate. A private burial will be held at a later
date for immediate family only at Hardwood Hill cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please send any
donations in her memory to Tom MacNeil and the cancer patient fund at
the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer
Centre.
