With sadness, we the family of Walter Harry Worobel, regret
to announce his passing on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at the Cape
Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born May 13, 1930, he was the son of the late William and
Annie (Karluk) Worobel.
Walter retired from Sydney Steel, where he worked as an
electrician. He was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church, Whitney
Pier. For many years, Walter enjoyed swimming at Polar Bear Beach in
South Bar and looked forward to the annual New Year’s Day Polar Bear
Swim. He also loved the Mira River, spending the past 11 years
there.
Walter is survived by his wife, Mary “Mitzi”
(Racki); daughter, Paula (Walter) Kowal, Albert Bridge; sisters, Ollie
(Pat) Randazzo, Courtice, Ont., Stephanie Worobel, Sydney and Anna
(John) Dooley, Ottawa, Ont.; brothers, Alex (Ellen), Duxbury, Mass.
and Donald, Sydney; very special granddaughter, Nadia, who he loved
the most, as well as his four legged granddaughter,
Koko.
He was predeceased by his sister, Madeline “Mamie”
Postlewaite and brother, Michael “Woody”.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at
Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church on Friday, September 15 at 9:30 a.m., with
Rev. Roman Dusankowskyj officiating. Interment in Forest Haven
Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church or the
SPCA
