Margaret “Peggy” Warrell
1924-2017
It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mom,
Peggy Warrell, at home in Fredericton on Wednesday, September 13,
2017. Born in Scotland in 1924 she was the last surviving member of
her immediate family. Peggy was the wife of the late William Warrell
and the daughter of the late John and Agnes McNeill.
Mom and Dad were married in Scotland in March 1943. In 1945
Mom joined Dad in Fredericton following his return from WWII, where
they remained for the rest of their lives and raised their family. Mom
was known for her knitting for family and friends, her never-ending
supply of baked goods and, in recent years, a ham for every
situation.
She is survived by her daughters, Eleanor (Gerry) Simms and
Isaobel MacKinnon; her son, John (Susan) Warrell of Charters
Settlement; loving grandchildren, Leanne (Steve) Cooke of New
Maryland, Darren (Karen) Bragdon of Sherwood Park, Tony (Schelly)
MacKinnon of Fredericton, Adam Warrell of Calgary;
great-grandchildren, Brandyn & Chelsea Cooke, Ryan &
Laura MacKinnon and James Robins; several nieces and nephews. Besides
her husband and parents Mom was predeceased by a sister and three
brothers in Scotland.
The family would like to thank everyone who assisted Mom in
any way with her care during the past few years for their kindness and
support. Without this support it would have been impossible for Mom to
remain in her home, which is where she wanted to stay. We would also
like to thank Dr. Flowers, Extra-Mural support and health care worker,
Helen, for the excellent care given to Mom.
Respecting Mom’s wishes to keep it simple, an
informal gathering will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on
Monday, September 18, 2017, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. A private
family interment will follow. No flowers by request. For those who
wish, donations in Peggy’s memory can be made to a charity of the
donor’s choice.
