Obituary of Hazel Irving
Irving, Hazel Winnifred – of the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown, formerly of Chatham, passed away on Monday September 4, 2017, age 94. Born in Charing Cross, Harwich Township to parents the late Warner and Violet (nee Bennett) Drewery. Loving wife of 70 years and ten months to Stewart James Ernest Irving. Beloved mother of Brenda and husband Chuck Guyitt of Ridgetown. Grandmother of Chad and wife Erin Guyitt of Guelph. Great-Grandmother of Charles, Beatrice, and Sullivan.
Sister-in-law of Jeanette Drewery, Vera Drewery, Shirley Drewery, Joan Irving, Ruth Conliffe, and Shirley Conliffe.
Predeceased also by her brothers Raeburn Drewery, Percy (late Dena) Drewery, Melvin Drewery, Floyd “Pop” Drewery, Bertram Drewery RCAF 1944, brother-in-laws Melvin Irving, Gord Conliffe, Don Conliffe, and by her sister-in-law Jean (late Howard) Stewart.
Hazel was a charter member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church, Chatham. Hazel was an accomplished quilter, charter member of the Chatham Kinnette Club, bowled with the Gay Forties Club and volunteered with Thamesview Lodge and Riverview Gardens.
Visitation for Hazel will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. East Ridgetown, on Saturday September 9, 2017 from 1-3pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 3pm with Rev. Marg Moriyama as Officiant. Cremation will follow with interment at Pardoville Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Hazel may be made to Mocha Shrine Patient Transportation Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be left at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com.
