Helen Louise Barrett – 1924 – 2017

Obituary of Helen Barrett
BARRETT, Helen Louise (Phillips), 92, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Evergreen Retirement Community in Mississauga. A truly beloved mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, she married Eric John Barrett in 1950, and remaining joyfully wed for the next 48 years. Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by one daughter: Gillian May, four sons: Peter John, Bruce, Michael William, and Ian Frederick, and three grandsons: Alex John, Glenn Nicholas, and Jason Adam. Her bright smile and interest in people helped her make many friends, and she will be missed by many who worked with her at the Royal Bank of Canada. She had a wonderful sense of humour that never left her, and she was always brave and selfless. Throughout her long life, she remained generous, honest and unfailingly gracious.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, September 7, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 – 9:00 PM, at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, Ontario L7G 4Y5. Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 8, starting at 11:00 AM.
The family’s sincere gratitude goes to all of the staff at the Evergreen Retirement Community, for their kindness, help and welcoming attitude. We would also like to express our appreciation to the VON for their palliative care services and also to Nurse Next Door. Finally, we wish to give a special recognition to Oksana of the Mississauga-Halton Local Health Integrated Network (formerly CCAC). She went above and beyond in assisting the family through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Helen Barrett’s name to the charity of your choice.
