Obituary for Cornelius Dueck
It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Cornelius (Neil) Dueck on September 2, 2017
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Jeanne (nee Tourond), his children Doyle (Denise), Debbie (Grant) Stutsky, and Dan (Karen). His grandchildren Chad (Sylvie), Jennifer (Jason), Cassandra (Garrett), Amanda (Michael), and Christian. He will be dearly missed by his very precious great grandchildren Leland, Dallas and Jordie. He is survived by his two sisters Betty and Mary, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Neil was predeceased by his grandson Danny, his siblings Peter, Jack, Margaret, Helen, and his parents Peter and Elizabeth.
Neil was born in Altona, Manitoba on June 20, 1931. He moved to with his family to Paraguay at a young age but returned to Altona after his beloved father had passed away. After a beautiful and feisty young girl asked him to dance, Neil was smitten. Neil and Jeanne were married on August 18, 1956. They just celebrated their 61 year wedding anniversary. Neil worked for over 30 years at Canada Packers, retiring early and starting his woodworking business. His patio furniture adorned many yards. Neil loved all sports. He loved watching the Bombers and the Jets. Curling was a favourite of both Jeanne and Neil. Mom and Dad both loved to travel, with many great stories from Mexico, Dominican and Phoenix. They had seasonal spots in Windego and Warroad, making many friends along the way. But of all else, he was the truest family man. His family was most important to him. He would drop everything if you needed help. He was the hockey dad when we were young and the motocross dad/grandpa when we were older. He would drive his grandkids and great grandkids where they needed to be. He was the person we could all depend on. Grandma and Grandpa’s place was “THE” place to be whether it was Christmas or poker night. Dad and Grandpa “you will be missed”.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview nursing home for their exceptional care.
A service will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home, with internment at the Wheeler Memorial Gardens,
