Peacefully on August 22, 2017, Michelle passed away at the age of 55, surrounded by her loving husband Glenn, her daughter Kasey and future son-in-law Tyler. Survived by parents Robert and Lois Long of Markdale. Dearly loved by family, friends and colleagues, Michelle touched the lives of so many and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends at Philpott Memorial Church, 84 York Blvd., Hamilton, on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. A Celebration of Michelle’s life will follow at 3 p.m.
A graveside service will be held in Markdale Cemetery on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
If desired, memorial donations to the Sandbox Project would be appreciated. All proceeds will be directed to the “Michelle Harkness Mentorship Award” established in Michelle’s honor by AllerGen N.C.E. This award will support AllerGen’s researchers, trainees and partners. The family sends a special thank you to all staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital.
