After a full and successful life, Dick passed away on August 27, 2017, at the age of 94. He was a man of innovation, diligence and determination. Dick’s accomplishments were many, but he was most proud of his athletic endeavours, his UBC degree in Engineering (and subsequent standing as a Professional Engineer) and his creation and development of Mount Matheson Estates. Dick was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Mary (2004), his granddaughter, Courtenay Taaffe (2005) and his daughter, Heather Robbins (2015). Left to remember and share his stories are daughters Dianne Taaffe (Mike) and Debbie Weilbacher (Chris), grandchildren Scott Robbins (Katie), Alicia Goluza (Frank), Kelli McLeod (Morgan), Matt, Luke and Gracie Weilbacher and nine great grandchildren. With fondness and gratitude, Dick’s “old” Sooke memories, experiences and friendships were never forgotten.
A private service will be held by the family. Condolences may be offered to his family below.
