The family of Jean Roth of Camrose, formerly of Edmonton, is sad to announce her passing. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday. Jean is survived by her sister Pat (Keith) Reed of High River, AB, her sons David (Teresa) Roth in Camrose, Stewart Roth and Susan Green in Edmonton, and Brian (Barbara) Roth in Kelowna as well as six grandchildren: Jonathan Roth, Andrew (Rachael Hirsch) Roth, JD (Izabella) Roth and Geoffery Roth, and Amanda (Shawn) Felix and Matthew Roth, as well as four great grandchildren: Tressa Hirsch Roth, Henley and Charles Roth, and James Felix along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Robert Alexander Leslie and Cassie (Leslie) Hicks, and siblings Audrey (Royce) Fulcher, and Robert (June) Leslie. Jean was born and raised in Radisson, Saskatchewan, took Secretarial Training in Saskatoon and served as a decoder in Ottawa during WW II. She married Malvin Roth in 1946 and moved to Camrose where they resided and raised their family. Jean was active in the Camrose Craft Centre for many years and served as President in 1962. She was a lifelong and accomplished artist. Many of her landscape paintings have been exhibited around Alberta and worldwide. She was also a ceramicist and in later years also produced many fine pressed flower works of art. Jean was employed by Woodwards in Edmonton for many years as an Interior Decorator and she made that her life career after raising her family. Jean was a longtime member of the Eastern Star, the Rosicrusians and the Unitarian Church where she made many close friends. Jean was a lifelong learner and took courses and studied the Sylva Method, Reiki, the Seth writings and taught Dream Workshops around Alberta. She travelled to England, Egypt, Hawaii, Chile, Alaska, California, Arizona and all across Canada. Jean moved back to Camrose in 2012 and resided in Deer Meadows until 2017 when she moved to Sunrise Village. The family would like to thank the thoughtful and caring staff at Sunrise Village for their kind assistance during her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, please direct any donations to the Bailey Theatre Society in Camrose.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a time and location to be announced.
