Martha was born September 18, 1921 on the family farm near Donalda. Martha passed away peacefully August 3, 2017, with her family at her side. On November 18, 1942 she married Arvid Johnston and they lived on a farm outside of New Norway. To this union five children were born. In 1950 they moved into New Norway and in 1969 they moved to Camrose. Martha spent the last three years at Points West Lodge in Wainwright, where she received great care. Left to mourn her passing are her children Leroy (Darlene) of Camrose, Colleen Johnston of Sherwood Park, Darryl (Connie) of Bittern Lake, Guy (Jackie) of Camrose, and Sandra Johnston of Camrose; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Martha was predeceased by her husband Arvid on April 29, 2014; and brothers Henry, Lawrence and one infant brother. Martha will be dearly missed, but never forgotten by family and friends. ~~~~~~~ The family wishes to sincerely thank you for attending the service and offering your support. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated and will always be remembered.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from the Camrose United Church with Rev. Brian Hunter and Rev. Mary Ann Pastuck officiating.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society, or to the charity of one’s choice.
