Nadine D. Sampson
1932-2017
Nadine Doris Sampson
Bayside, NB.
Born … Dec.13, 1932.
Died … Aug.19th, 2017.
Predeceased by her husband Arnold, her parents Eldon and Allegra
(Blair) McKay of McAdam, her sister Joan (Miles Foster) of
Charlottetown, and grandson Kyle Sampson of St. Andrews.
She is survived by her sisters Dawnie Little (David) of Fort Macleod,
Alberta; Mary Masterson (Jeremy) of Claresholme, Alberta, and Elda
Bailey (John) of St. Andrews: her sons, Neil (Judy) of Fredericton,
and Tom (Judy) of Rossland, B.C.; her daughters, Holly Hood (Calvin)
of Bayside, and Lisa Sampson of Halifax.
Nadine has several grandchildren: Sarah, Jessica, Selena, Micah, Cara,
Aaron, Joshua, Caitlyn; and great-grandchildren Briana, Jordan, Rese,
Evan, Claire, Maverick, Lia, Ava, Willum, Oren, Joshua, Thomas, Emma,
Sophie, Hailey, Brynlee, and Sullivan; several nieces and
nephews.
She came to St. Andrews in her teens where she worked as a waitress at
O’Neill’s Restaurant (the Save-Easy building), and then at
the New Brunswick Telephone Company (161 Water St.). She and Arnold
raised their family here—Montague St., Frederick St., Charles
Street. Nadine turned her time over to her children—picnics at
the Blockhouse (chocolate milk in glass pint bottles), swims at
Katy’s Cove (following a two-hour wait for eating ice-cream),
suppers of baked pollock with an egg/cream sauce, and checks for the
straightness of Sunday bow ties (NOT on Holly or Lisa). In 1966,
Arnold took a job in Fredericton. From here, it was on to Hartland,
then Charlottetown, returning to Bayside in 1994.
Though her later years saw her in failing health, she loved the family
gatherings, even allowing her children’s at-times-up-to-seven
dogs to join in. Only Neil’s were permitted on the couch, as he
was Nadine’s favourite. (He’s the one who wrote this.)
Nadine’s hope was in the Lord—in the finished work of
Christ; his death and resurrection as the only acceptable payment for
sin; salvation a gift to all those who, seeing their need of a
Saviour, trust in Christ as their only standing before God.
As per Nadine’s wishes, a private family service will be held to
celebrate her life.
