Alma grew up in Long Branch, now a part of Etobicoke. She was a talented piano player and completed Grade 11 at the Royal Conservatory of Music. As a young lady Alma was also very athletic, playing high school basketball. Alma’s love of people and entertaining was evident in the many bridge marathons and tournaments she participated in throughout her life. Alma loved to host family dinners and was famous for her Christmas cookies. She was also a wonderful knitter and seamstress creating wonderful family heirlooms and many gifts for family and community organizations.
Alma was also a great fan of road trips and thought nothing of picnics and fishing trips to McKellar, and Niagara Falls as a lovely day out. Family vacations where longer road trips across Canada with visits to Disneyland and Yellowstone National Park to mention only a few. Following “Tap” to many a racetrack across Canada and the US; she enjoyed all the sights and sounds of the road. In later years vacations focused on trips to visit grandchildren and relatives across Canada.
Alma’s family is pleased to acknowledge the many care givers of the Bennett Health Care Centre, of Georgetown and Trafalgar Lodge in Oakville for their loving care. Special thanks to Dr. Farragos for his thoughtful care of Alma and his thorough communication with her family. A heartfelt thank you also goes to Mary Smith for her kindness to Alma and the extended family.
