Richard Yvon Melanson
Richard “Petty” Y. Melanson, 59, of
Moncton, passed away at his beloved cottage at The Bluff on Sunday,
August 6, 2017.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Yvon and Anita
(Dutcher) Melanson. Richard worked for Royal Door. He loved NASCAR,
especially #88, Dale Earnhardt Jr., enjoyed cross country skiing, snow
shoeing, biking and walking – all with his beloved wife,
Anne. Richard loved to dance and was the life of the party. In his
spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and working on cars. He was a real
“jack of all trades”. Most importantly, Richard
loved his family and was so proud of his two boys.
Richard will be sadly missed by his wife of 35 years, Anne
(Blackmun) Melanson of Moncton; sons, Kyle Melanson (Alexandra) of St.
Catharines, ON and Ian Melanson of Halifax, NS; sisters, Gisele
Primeau (Maurice) and Nadine Fournier (Daniel), both of Moncton;
brother, Terry Melanson (Julie) of Riverview and brother-in-law, Peter
Blackmun (Kimberly) of Moncton; as well as several nieces, nephews and
extended family members and many, many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister,
Paulette Melanson.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Richard’s life will be
held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 340 Dominion
Street, on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 9:30 am with Rev. Allison
Carroll presiding. Reception will be held in the Parish Hall following
Mass. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
In memory of Richard, donations to Hospice Greater Moncton,
the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation or a memorial of the
