Obituary for Daisy McGregor
Daisy Little McGregor died peacefully on Wednesday, July 26 at Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill after a brief illness. She was 85. She had previously been a resident of Hilltop Revera retirement home for several months. Trained as a registered nurse in her native Scotland, Daisy came Canada in the early 1950s and worked in nursing until her marriage to Duncan McGregor. She stayed home to raise three sons and later returned to nursing as director of care at what was then Country Place nursing home in Richmond Hill. Fondly remembered by her nursing colleagues and her many friends in Richmond Hill, where she was an active hockey parent and political volunteer and later in Vandorf, Ont, where she was a member of the Women’s Institute. Daisy spent her final few years as a resident of Richmond Hill. She was predeceased by her husband, Duncan, and son Neil. She is survived by sons Angus and Ron. She is also survived by her sisters Elma Wood and Jean Massie in Scotland, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service and celebration of Daisy’s life will be held Saturday, August 12. At 1 p.m, at Richmond Hill United Church, 10201 Yonge St.
