It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Elizabeth Kellier announce her passing at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on August 3, 2017. She was the daughter of the late W. Lee and Mabel A. (Roosa) Kellier, and was born in Springfied, Kings Co. NB on August 4, 1926.
After serving in the C.W.A.C during WWII, she attended Modern Business College where she taught for two years before beginning her career in the Insurance Industry. Mary was employed with Adjustors & Appraisers Ltd. for 32 years. She then joined the Claims Department of Anderson McTague Insurance Agency and retired from Kent General Insurance Company in 1991. She was a Secretary of the NB Insurance Agents Association and Insurance Institute of NB for many years, and was also President of the Saint John Insurance Women’s Association and Canadian Association of Insurance Women. She was a member of the militia for many years spending her summer vacations in Camp Aldershot as an instructor. She was also a 50 year member of Saint John Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Canadian Legion for 65 years, Past Warden and Envelope Secretary of Saint James Anglican Church Lakewood, Treasurer of Simonds Lions Seniors and Life member of the Saint John Fundy PC Association, serving as secretary for many years. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crossword puzzles, hockey games and playing cards as well as being a friend of all animals and birds.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Jane Kellier of Chatham, ON and Marie Kellier of Calgary, NB, nieces and nephews; Susan (Gordon) Smith of Sackville, NB, William (Deborah) Kellier and Lee Ann Hanuszak of Chatham, ON, Robert (Inge) Kellier of Edmonton, AB, Kenneth (Lesley) Kellier of AB, Marlene (James) Pinchbeck of Whitecourt AB, as well as several grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and three brothers, Francis, Robert and Gerald and sister-in-law Alice Kellier.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday, August 10 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held from the Church of Christ the King (2000 Loch Lomond Road) on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11am. Interment in Trinity Cemetery, Springfield will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers remembrances to the Church of Christ the King, SPCA- Animal Rescue League or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
