Les Clifford – November 22, 1929 – June 27, 2017

Obituary for Les Clifford
With heavy hearts, the Clifford family announces the passing of a husband, father, poppa and grandpoppa. Leslie Clifford (age 87), was born and raised in Petrolia where he met the love of his life, Mildred (nee Chapman). He was a proud father to Dan (Maxine), Larry, Susan and Beth (Larry), a special loving poppa to Andrew (Amanda), Dana (Shawn), Joe (Amy), Sarah and Emily, and a cherished greatpoppa to Erik, Brady and Emma. Les will be missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Butch) Lennan and Ed (Annie) Chapman and several of his nieces and nephews. Les was an accomplished draftsman, who worked for MIG for many years. He was a trumpet player for many years with the White Rose Band and was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church. During his youth, he was an avid sportsman who enjoyed baseball and golf which drove his love for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Les could always be found making something in his woodwork shop, from curio cabinets, rocking horses, grandfather clocks and pens to columns for the Petrolia Playhouse clock tower; he left a legacy of beautiful things for his family and his community. Visitors will be received by the family from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia, where a memorial service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11am. Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada (www.parkinson.ca). Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.needhamjay.com.
