Job Douglas
Hopkins, 74, of Rigolet, Labrador,
passed away suddenly at the Labrador Health Centre in Happy
Valley-Goose Bay on June 24, 2017. He was born
in Otter Creek, Labrador on October 30,
1942 to Arthur and Jane Hopkins. Job was the eldest of eight
children.
He went onto marry to Dora Wolfrey on
September 26, 1981. They were married for 35 years and raised 4
children together. Job was a loving husband and father who took great
pride in his family. He worked in Rigolet
for Labrador Grenfell Health for 20 years from which he
retired in 2009. Upon retirement, Job spent his time doing what he
enjoyed most: hunting, fishing, and being on the land.
He is survived by wife Dora, children Lloyd (Barb),
Phillip (Heather), Joanne (Mike), Jodene (Neil), grandchildren
Jessica, Kaitlyn, Michael Jr, Natalie, sisters Evelyn, Ruth (Jordon),
Marina, Rosamond, brother Ronald, many nieces and nephews, as well as
close friends.
Job is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and
Jane Hopkins, sisters Catherine and Linda Hopkins, brothers-in-law
William Rose, Vern Blake and Arch Best, and best friend Douglas
McLean.
Visitation will be held at the Senior’s
Building at Rigolet, Labrador on Tuesday June 27, 2017 from
7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Northern Lights
Academy Gym at Rigolet Labrador on June 28, 2017 at 10 AM
with Reverend Sarah Baikie officiating. Burial will follow at the
Rigolet Cemetery.
The Hopkins family wishes to thank all those
involved in Job’s care over the years and during his final
days, especially the staff at Groswater Bay Clinic in Rigolet, Dr.
Samantha Harper, Dr. Stephen Murphy, Dr. Jan Van Wijk, Dr. Catherine
Crocker, and the inpatient nursing staff at the Labrador Health
Centre.
