Charles Alexander “Charlie” Roherty
1919-2017
In his 99th year, Charles Alexander “Charlie”
Roherty, husband of the late Desirée (Jordan) Roherty,
passed away peacefully at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton on
June 19, 2017.
Born on April 11, 1919 in Belledune, NB, Charlie was the
eldest child of the late Sanford and Mae (Russell) Roherty. Following
6 years of service overseas with the Carleton York Regiment of the
Canadian Armed Forces during World War II, Charlie was employed in the
Federal Civil Service for over 30 years, retiring in 1976. He was a
founding member of both the Fredericton Federal Civil Servants Credit
Union and Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in
Marysville.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Charlene (Roy) Robinson
and Marianne (Bob) McNeil, both of Fredericton; sons, John (Jean)
Roherty of Quispamsis and Kevin (Debbie) Roherty of Fredericton; as
well as a sister, Dawn Roherty of Ontario; 14 grandchildren; and 18
great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his
sisters, Marion Turner and Mona Bujold; brothers, Arnold and Sanford
Jr.; and infant brother, Francis.
Special thanks to Dr. Tom Barry and Dr. John Keddy, and the
entire staff of the Veterans Health Unit in
Fredericton.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York
St., Fredericton, on Wednesday, June 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and
7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00
a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church
on Union St, Fredericton.
