Obituary for Leona Josephine “Joy” Hepperle (nee Berkner)
Leona “Joy” Hepperle of Calgary, passed away on May 28, 2017 at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her daughter Lynn- Elaine “Lainey” Hepperle (David Clyde); daughter-In law Lula; sisters, Lydia (Terry) Lofstrom of Flin Flon, MB, and Elizabeth Novak of Kelowna, BC; brother Larry and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward; son Dean; brothers, Alphonse, Anthony, Charlie, Edward, Joseph and Steve; sisters, Angeline “Lois”, Anna Emila ”Anne”, Evelyn, and Irene, as well as her parents Joseph and Mary. Joy was born in Bruno, SK and married Edward in Fort Francis, ON, on November 10, 1948. Joy spent time living in Winnipeg, Kelowna, Surrey, and Kamloops with her husband and various relatives over the years. After Edward’s death, Joy was a “Free Spirit” residing enumerable places for various durations of time including Innisfail and finally in Calgary. Prior to her marriage, she worked in war plants and as a server in the hospitality industry. During her marriage, she also returned to the hospitality industry and rose to the position of Banquet Manager in Winnipeg.
