It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the passing of Raymond McCormick on Thursday, June 8, 2017, in St. Catharine’s General Hospital, Ontario, with his family by his side.
Born in Sydney Mines on February 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Jerry and Dollie (MacKinnon) McCormick. Ray was a sailor and sailed on the Great Lakes until he retired.
Left to mourn are his daughters; Rae Anne (Dwayne), Donna, Denise (Norman), and Linda (Doug), sons; Craig, Gary (Demi), and Lloyd (Kera), the mother of his children Bernadette (Chisholm) McCormick, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, brother Michael (Mickey), sisters Ann, Millie (Lloyd), Marilyn, and Connie, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ray was predeceased by his sons Ronald and Raymond, sister Florence, daughter-in-law Vickie, and sister-in-law Hilda.
His family would like to take this opportunity to thank Ray’s best friend Dominic “Burpie” Marinelli for helping Ray so much and in so many ways. He looked forward to your daily visits. God bless you.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place in Ontario under the care and direction of Niagara Falls Funeral Home. Ray’s ashes will be brought home to Cape Breton, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
