Gloria ‘Jean’ Pierce
1941-2017
It is with the deepest sorrows that we announce the death of
our mom, Gloria “Jean” Pierce age 76 of Port
Hawkesbury/Sugarcamp. Mom passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February
28, 2017, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, surrounded by her
family. Born on January 27, 1941, in Port Hawkesbury she was the
youngest daughter of the late John Allen and Bridie
Dingle.
Jean spent her years as a homemaker, taking great pride in
being a wife and mother. Jean enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting,
listening to music, playing cards and always welcomed company through
her door. She was a long time member of St. David’s United Church,
Port Hastings and as a member of the Order of the Eastern
Star in Port Hawkesbury.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Hobert
“Duke”, her brother, John Dingle. She is survived by her six
children, Micheal (Brenda), Brighton, Ont; Stephen, Sugarcamp; Scott
(Tracey Munroe), Fredericton, NB; Kevin (Diane), Sugarcamp; Paul
(Colleen), Dartmouth and Susan MacKay (Stewart), Grand River. The
highlights of Jean’s life were her grandchildren, Mike, Melanie,
Kaitlin, Mikayla, Eric, Mark, Shelly, Abby, Ben and Shannon; as well
as her precious great-grandchildren, Jazmyn, Olivia, Owen and Avery.
Jean is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Dingle, Port Hawkesbury;
Ruth Landers, Fredericton, NB; brothers, Max (Jan) Dinglr, Nanaimo,
BC; Duncan (Sylvia) Dingle, New Glasgow; as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday in the
Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will
be 10 a.m. Friday from St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings with
Nan Corrigan DM officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family
flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian
Kidney FOundation, Craig’s Cause for Pancreatic Cancer Research or to
