Susan McPhail-Lopez October 06, 1946 – May 20, 2017

LOPEZ, McPhail Susan – It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Susan at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Saturday, May 20th at the age of 70 years. Predeceased by her husband Peter Lopez (2003), Susan will be sadly missed by her sister Judy (Gary), nephew Blair (Shawna) and their children Calla and Julia, niece Cindy (Don) and their children Alec, Riley and Clark. Gramma Sue is lovingly remembered by stepson Bob and his wife Melissa, grandchildren Robby and Grace and stepdaughter Karen (Kyra). Susan will be greatly missed by her many friends and colleagues. Susan was a lifelong educator and administrator in the local school system for over 42 years. She volunteered at numerous organizations including CFUW, Cornwall Concert Series, Rotary International, Laurencrest and many others. Susan was an avid gardener who took great pride in her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was a frequent bridge, cribbage and Majong player and enjoyed Tai chi. She also enjoyed travelling to various parts of the world. Susan gave her time, energy and enthusiasm freely to all those around her. A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at the Ramada Hotel (805 Brookdale Avenue) in the Adirondack Room on Friday, May 26th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cornwall Hospice and Cornwall Scholarship Fund (c/o C. Bray. 470 Pitt Street Cornwall, K6J 3R2).
