Goodbrand, John Andrew “Jack” (June 25, 1918 – May 3, 2017)
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, in his 99th year. Beloved husband for 17 years to Doris (nee Barber). Predeceased by his first wife, May (nee Brown) in 1999 and by his daughter Sheila in 2001.
Loving father of Karen Tigchelaar (Edward), the late Sheila Lombardi (Paul), John Goodbrand, David Goodbrand (Cathy), and Janet Macdonald (Bruce). Loving step father to Susan Welsh, Lynn McKerracher, Jonathan Barber, Mark Barber, and Paul Barber.
Cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren (predeceased by his granddaughter Emily May in 2008). Loving son of the late Andrew and Naomi Goodbrand. Eldest brother to the late Ruth Wilkinson (Bill), the late Gordon Goodbrand, Jean Tadgell (Ted), Mary Pilkey (Brock), and Lois Rielly (Douglas).
Jack was a foreman at the Stelco Cold Mill in Hamilton for 40 years, and then enjoyed 41 years of retirement! Longtime member of Compass Point Bible Church and faithful servant of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Jack was an avid fisherman, golfer, hunter and bee keeper. His favourite place was at Wolf River, Ontario, where he spent 65 years enjoying both the Hunt Camp and his Cottage with family and friends.
Special thanks to the Staff at Heritage Place, to Dr. Bruce Powers and the nurses who cared for Jack.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Sunday May 7 from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in Smith’s Chapel on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:30 am. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Salvation Army or Compass Point Bible Church would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
