Merrilyne Dorothy Bell
1938-2017
After a brief illness, the death Merrilyne Bell of Beaver Harbour
occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital on Friday, April 28, 2017.
She was born on July 7, 1938 in St. Stephen to the late Lemuel and
Marion Smith. Merrilyne worked briefly at Connors Brothers but she
dedicated her life to her family. She was a amazing mother and
grandmother. In her spare time, Merrilyne enjoyed watching TV, car
rides, knitting and cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed
visits from her great-grandchildren.
Merrilyne is survived by her children: Joan Merrill (Jack) of St.
Stephen, Steven Whittier (Lois) of Beaver Harbour, Colen Bell of
Beaver Harbour and Robert Bell of Pennfield; brothers: Dean, Hike and
Junior Smith; sisters: Donna Merritt, Elizabeth West, Kate Morales and
Margaret Daigle (Paune) all from Massachusetts and New Hampshire;
grandchildren: Cindy, Laurie, Shane, Tana, Christie, Lee, David,
Stevie and Stefanie; 13 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Elaine
and Carman; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Merrilyne was
predeceased by her parents; her husband, Colen Bell; sons: Gary, John,
and David; daughter, Evelyn; brother, Doran and sister, Pauline.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George
(755-3533) with visitation on Sunday from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The Funeral
Service will be held from the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 1,
2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. Interment will take
place in Rollingdam United Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances
to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family.
