Gwendilyne Alice Lemish (nee Shuffler)
January 4, 1925 – April 26, 2017
We have so easily given our love to the most beautiful and gracious woman who made our family possible. Gwendilyne took her last breath on the morning of April 26th, 2017, at the golden age of 92. Gwendilyne was born on January 4, 1925 in Georgetown Guyana, beloved wife of the late Gordon Lemish. Loving mother of Margaret (the late Matthew), Bernard (Jennifer), Neil (Jeanette), Michael (Gail) and dear sister of Jimmy (Elizabeth) and Ann (the late Joe). Proud grandmother of 9, great grandmother of 16 and great great grandmother of 4. As her health began to decline significantly during the last two months, she received extraordinary care from her devoted daughter Margaret, grand-daughter Marcie, and many loyal friends and family members. Gwendilyne was fortunate to have shared loving goodbyes with her loved ones over the last several months and has left behind many fond memories at the Extendicare Long Term Nursing Home (Cobourg) where she had been cared for by a giving and caring staff. Throughout the years Gwendilyne has touched the lives of many, especially during her travels from Guyana, to Trinidad to Florida and even to Hawaii….and has resided in Canada since 2003. Friends will be received at MacCoubrey Funeral Home 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Saturday April 29, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cobourg (corner of University and Division) on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. A reception for family and friends will follow at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre. Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association or the C.N.I.B. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
