Ervin “Zimmy” Zimmerman
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother/ uncle Ervin “Zimmy” Zimmerman, age 75, on April 17, 2017.
Ervin “Zimmy” was born on November 22, 1941 in Port Arthur, Ontario. After attending Selkirk High School Zimmy started working for CP Rail, also he worked on ships before starting his beloved business “Zimmy’s Oil Gard” which he ran for 25 years making alot of friends along the way, through the business and through his charity work. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, raising a lot of money for the Childrens Trust Fund. He was an animal lover and raised money for the local humane society. He was an avid sport enthusiast, his favourite sports were baseball,Nascar, football and hockey, his favourite teams were the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He also supported local hockey players by having Zimmy’s Oil Gard sponsor them.
Zimmy will be sadly missed by his sister Deanna Gregory, who was also his office worker at Zimmy’s (Vernon), brother Joe Zimmerman (Wendy),niece Lisa Prestidge (Bryan, Jordan) nephews Scott Gregory (Patti, Camryn, Jaxon, Rowan), Ray Gregory (Shari, Kylie, Cheryl), Sean Gregory (Austin, Kennedy, Kassidy), John Zimmerman (Jackie, Aubrey), Tyler Zimmerman (Matteo).
Zimmy was predeceased by his parents Jack and Mary Zimmerman.
As per Zimmy’s wishes there will be no service. If friends wish, donations can be made to the Thunder Bay Humane Society in Zimmy’s name. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
You did so much for so
many people, now
sweet man this is your time to rest.
Soar high with the angels by your side.
Rest in peace.
